acronym morphs — ai-interpolated motion from static product photography

inspired by a fan video that switched back and forth between acronym outfits, i came up with an idea during my work placement that was quite extraordinary for its time: to repurpose an ai model for frame interpolation – originally developed to create slow-motion videos – to generate fluid, morphed short videos from acronym’s extremely detailed product images (an average of around 50 per product). this experimental application of generative ai to still images was uncharted technical territory in 2023 and produced a moving-image aesthetic that had never been seen before. the final editing was carried out in davinci resolve, and the workflow developed could be applied to other products. the first video released generated an extraordinary response on both the acronym and errolson’s personal accounts – around ten times the reach of previous videos and 250,000 views on instagram within a few days.
