what does ‘futuristic’ mean? this question was at the heart of our editorial project, which explores the extent to which our vision of the future is shaped by films, music and pop culture. the result is a book that itself feels like a relic from the future. the photographs – some taken on kodak vision 3 cinema film, others digitally, and mostly shot in stuttgart – were complemented by an experimental feedback loop: custom-created graphics displayed on a sony pvm crt monitor and then photographed again. the large-format editorial was produced entirely in-house – hand-cut, thread-bound and fitted with raw, scratched aluminium covers, whose lacquered and laser-engraved logo lends the book an almost archaeological, tactile presence. my focus was on the photography – from the shoot to the image editing – whilst alia concentrated on the binding; we developed the layouts together.
