fascinated by berlin-based photographer jorge alvarado’s unique perspective on the city’s overlooked everyday details, alia tasler and i accompanied him for three days of filming as part of our film course – whilst he intuitively sought out subjects, during an in-depth interview, and during a smartphone photo session. through an iterative editing process, we wove these elements together into an atmospheric portrait: i was responsible for camerawork and colour grading, whilst alia handled production and the interview. the film portrays jorge as a cultural bridge-builder, whose latin american roots shape his perspective on colours and angles, and conveys his philosophy: it is not equipment, but consistency and the courage to see the everyday in a new light that make for good photography.
